Joanna M.C. Crone

Born in 1947, Arnhem (The Netherlands)

Lives and works in Utrecht (The Netherlands)

In the 1970’s, Joanna Crone started capturing everyday life and transforming it in a subtle way into an art form, using mostly fabrics. During the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, Joanna concentrated more on other materials such as, metal, paper, electrical wire and leftover materials. At that time she was also teaching others to do the same with textiles.

Joanna Crone is always searching for harmony and tranquility. Her figurative images often have a melancholic and/or surrealistic tone. Both through her choice of materials and the appliance of them she aims to make vulnerability, weightlessness and transparency, visible.

Joanna Crone has taken part in various national and international exhibitions.
